In the unibz Living Labs in South Tyrol – Alto Adige, cover crop mixtures are being tested for their effectiveness in enhancing soil carbon accumulation, improving soil quality, and supporting beneficial microbial communities in apple orchards and vineyards. These on-going activities aim to assess how cover crops can increase organic matter, boost soil fertility, and contribute to a more resilient agricultural system. By integrating the principles of sustainable agriculture, Unibz Living Labs focus on efficient resource use, optimizing the connections between carbon, energy, and water. The Agritech PNRR Project, through its Living Labs in South Tyrol, primarily targets farmers, orchard managers, and agricultural consultants interested in sustainable practices, while also engaging researchers, agronomists, and agricultural companies working on soil management and climate-resilient farming systems.
