Living labs in agriculture are networks of researchers, farmers, and other stakeholders working together to develop and disseminate innovative practices and technologies. In particular, researchers and “Lighthouse farms,” that is, technologically advanced agricultural enterprises, jointly plan and implement On Farm Experimentation (OFE), which involves large-scale experiments conducted under real field conditions. Other stakeholders involved in living labs include professionals, public and private entities, and companies providing goods or services. All participants collaborate to design and promote innovative strategies to enhance the adaptation of various cropping systems to climate change, with a particular focus on water, carbon, and energy management.
