Carbon - Veneto

The Living Lab Carbon – Veneto network is composed of numerous agricultural enterprises that actively participate by providing information on their production processes and are open to receiving guidance and recommendations for optimization. The Living Lab includes researchers, two seed companies, a manufacturer of irrigation systems, a producer of organic fertilizers, three farms where On-Farm Experiments (OFEs) on the use of cover crops are being implemented, and an independent professional with over ten years of experience in cover crop management. These OFEs focus on weed monitoring, innovative cover crop management techniques aimed at reducing chemical inputs, and monitoring changes in soil characteristics—particularly organic matter content—resulting from the implemented practices. One of the main stakeholders of this Living Lab is the Eastern Veneto Land Reclamation Consortium (CBVO), which has made its facilities available for experimental activities aimed at developing innovative solutions to increase soil organic matter content in the short term. An additional initiative combines early diagnostic techniques for herbicide resistance with the implementation of targeted management strategies, addressing both the control of emerged weeds and the reduction of seed dispersal from those not effectively managed by the adopted techniques.
