Open Day – Cultivating the Future: Restoring Agricultural Soil Fertility to Tackle Climate Change

The initiative is one of the activities of a living lab involving CBVO, the DAFNAE Department of the University of Padua and other technical partners. This collaboration aims to find, on a large scale, strategies for the recovery and preservation of organic matter in agricultural soils, the water use optimization, and related ecosystem services. Professor Carmelo Maucieri (University of Padova) gave an oral presentation about one of the research activities conducted within the task 4.2.1 “Farm network setup (Living Labs)” of Agritech Spoke 4. Other experiences on cover crops and soil management were presented in the scientific part of the meeting. Some practical issues and in particular the soil fertility recovery as a strategic feature in managing the effects of climate change were finally discussed in a round table between representatives of institutions and organizations. Professor Maurizio Borin (University of Padova) was the moderator of the meeting, which was attended by an audience of about 100 people, including company technicians, professionals, representatives of trade associations, public employees and researchers.ques
